STREETS OF HOPE

I photograph to remember. Not only what was, but also what I felt in that moment. Through my lens
I search for the faces behind the story, for the fleeting details hidden within a crowd or buried in
destruction, for those fragments that the ordinary eye might overlook.

As a photographer, I am drawn to the intersection of the human and the political, the intimate and the
public. I believe a strong image can be both testimony and creation a testimony to an event that must
never be forgotten, and a creation that continues to move hearts years later. My camera walks with
me into encounters with people, into places where the world holds its breath, and into quiet moments
that remain engraved in me long after I have stepped away.

This book is a visual diary of a year of rupture between flags and ashes, hope and grief, roaring voices
and silent cries. These are my images, but they are also our faces. All of ours.
